Nassau County instituted the Disputed Assessment Fund (DAF) charges for the 2016/17 tax year.  For 2016/17 and 2017/18, the DAF charge was reflected on the School tax bills and resulted in higher tax rates based on a lower assessment base.  It was also reflected on the General tax bills.  Beginning in 2018/19, there will be no DAF charge on the school tax bills.  Since the assessment base is no longer reduced, the school tax rates have decreased for 2018/19.  The General tax bills will be issued in January 2019 and will reflect a DAF charge line item.  The impact on the General bill tax rates and how the line items are calculated are TBD.
