Delays in CT Mill Rates

The Connecticut state legislature has not yet adopted a state budget, which means towns do not know how much state aid they will receive. Additionally, it is unknown if the motor vehicle mill rate cap will remain at 32 mills for Grand List 2016, fiscal year 2017-2018, as is required by current law. Due to these questions, many towns have not yet adopted mills rates, or have adopted temporary mill rates. When paying tax bills in CT, taxpayers should verify whether the rate is the final adopted rate or not, and if not, prepare for adjusted bills later on.
